Since the event at banchetto got cancelled at the last minute, we decided to just have a dinner movie date. We spent this once in a lifetime date eating and just laughing with and at each other.
You can call us boring because we’re simply happy watching a movie and EATING! Haha
Much has changed over the past year. On our first year, there were a lot of adjustments and hurdles we have managed to go over. Coming to the 2nd year mark got a lot harder because of the distance and trying to
Figure out how to make it work with what’s going on with our own personal lives.
But we are a lot happier now. Maybe because i stopped myself from trying to make our relationship like that of what i see in movies. Yeah, i blame movies too for my high expectations on relationships. And ever since i learned to accept that carl is no john lloyd, i have began to appreciate him more, appreciate the little sweet things he does that i overlook most of the time because of stupid expectations. And learned to appreciate how beautiful and extraordinary our relationship is.
I did my share of the relationship and he did his too. Putting more effort and taking responsibility over things. Communication is really key to keeping it together. Communication and putting into action. Compromise and occasional putting aside the pride.
A guy friend recently asked me
“what do you do on dates nowadays? I have forgotten how the dating thing happens. ”
and i replied
” real couples just do what they enjoy doing. “
it really is as simple as that. It is not really that important what you do, it’s the idea that you are together enjoying each other’s company. This i have learned from him and maybe in the next 40 years or more, i would never get tired of having discounted dinners out with him and watching a free movie in the theaters.
‘cause by that time we’re probably enjoying the perks of being a senior citizen! :D
